Adding direct online sales to an established retail business.
Gere & Schubert, a winery in Hungary’s Villány region, already had customers buying its wines through retailers. The pandemic made reaching those customers directly and delivering to their homes more important.
We handled the store build, customer acquisition and email marketing. Alongside reaching new buyers, we needed to introduce existing customers to ordering directly from the winery.

We started by assessing the economics of selling the wines online. That informed how we built the store and planned its marketing.
Build the Shopify store.
We designed and built the store, wrote the homepage and product copy, and set up purchase tracking. The buying process needed to be clear, from choosing a wine to placing an order.
Bring customers to the store.
We wrote and designed the ads, then managed Facebook, Instagram and Google campaigns. Alongside ongoing advertising, we prepared campaigns for the year-end shopping season.
Give customers a reason to order again.
We built email templates and automated flows in Klaviyo. Post-purchase emails and campaigns tailored to different customer groups encouraged repeat orders.
November revenue reached four times October’s.
During the Black Friday month, store revenue rose 301% compared with October. Revenue fell from that peak in December but remained at almost twice October’s level.
The November peak coincided with the Black Friday period.
